Battle of the Bands

St John’s is very pleased to report that this year’s Battle of the Bands competition was, a huge success! We are proud to announce that we held our biggest and best competition yet, with participation from 8 international schools. Many supporters were in attendance and helped to create a lively and exciting atmosphere for the afternoon.

In order of appearance, are competing schools/bands were:

  • KIS - Hammerhead
  • Bangkok Patana - Benevolent
  • St Stephen’s School – Parking my Rehab
  • St John’s - Paranormal
  • The Regent’s School - Toi
  • ISB
  • Harrow International School - Nectar
  • Keerapat International School – KPIS Pop Band

All of the bands put on amazing performances and we hope that they had as much fun performing as we all did listening and watching!

Battle of Bands

Announcing the winners

In 3rd place with an excellent, entertaining performance Bangkok Patana
In 2nd place, congratulations to ISB
In 1st place, very well done to Keerapat
Our very own band Paranormal did us proud and were placed 4th

A huge thank you to the Judges, who were:

  1. Komtham Domrongchareon
Lecturer, Department of commercial music, Silpakorn University
  2. Tanakorn Boonprasitpol from KPN Music
  3. Thananudej ‘Kor’ Prayulsuk from the band ‘The Olarn Project’

The judges commented on the very high quality of all the bands and said how difficult it was to choose the winning band. Keerapat and ISB were both Battle of Bandscomplimented on their excellent guitarists and SJIS was complimented on their excellent singer!! Apparently there were very few points between all of the top bands and it was a close competition indeed.

We are grateful to our two sponsors of the event, the Hard Rock Cafe, Bangkok and U-Smile Kids Photo.

We thank both of these companies for supplying us with the prizes for this event, as follows:

3rd place – bronze trophy
2nd place – silver trophy plus 6 photo packages from U Smile
1st place – gold trophy plus 6 photo packages from U Smile plus a voucher for Bt5000 to go and have a great night out at the Hard Rock Cafe

In addition, Hard Rock Cafe gave us numerous vouchers to give out to all visitors to the event alongside the entrance ticket.

Throughout the afternoon

Fish and Chips and burgers were supplied by Epicure and John from Jonty’s Sausages was forever popular!! People even bought boxes of sausages to take home! Student  council members from Secondary were busy selling soft drinks and Primary student council members were selling commemorative t-shirts (all of which sold out) and glow-in-the-dark bracelets, which were very popular among the younger supporters!

Overall it was an EXCELLENT event and was enjoyed by all. Participating Schools have thanked us for our hospitality and, we are happy to say, all commented on how enjoyable the event was.

DVDs will be coming out shortly and will be available for sale. Keep an eye on the website and Newsletters for how to order and please see below for photos, courtesy of USmile.

See you all next year!
