Music

In the primary school a special emphasis is placed on music. Music is an important part of the lives of all people and cultures around the globe. Students are encouraged to learn, appreciate and respect their own musical heritage in order for them to be able to appreciate and respect the music and culture of others.

Students are taught the musical elements such as rhythm, melody, harmony, tone and form, through songs and activities. Activities in music involve singing, moving, reading, and listening.

The musical goals within primary include:

Acquiring a basic understanding in the basic fundamentals of music; acquiring skills in reading musical notes; acquiring the skills required to play various musical instruments and participating in singing activities.
